Celebrating with Alex -- 15 years ago!

Alex is studying the Cold War in his United States History class. Because he has older parents we grew up during the Cold War and can share personal memories about that time in history. One of the memories I have is watching the parades on Red Square on television.

It is very easy for us, as a family, to relate to the end of the Cold War on a very personal level as Alex was born in Russia. Where it becomes personal is that if the Cold War had not ended with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, Alex would very likely not be a Lambert.  In 1998 we stood in the middle of Red Square with our new son. We thank God daily for the gift of  Alex!

Today we celebrate that 15 years ago we met a little boy in an orphanage in Kirov, Russia, went to Russian court that same day where a Russian judge made Alex our son and then we boarded a Trans-Siberian train to spend our first night as a family in a sleeper car as we sped across the snowy Russian countryside.
