Parent volunteers & DuFresne |
At this year's Red Hawk Invitational, I helped with meet timing and entering the official results in my laptop. I learned how to use the portable timing device thanks to the expert advice of Athens X-Country Assistant Coach Shawn DuFresne. I've offered my assistance to Head Coach Michael Stallsmith to set-up an online registration system for next year.
On Saturday (8/25), Alex and I ran a Half-Marathon at the
North Country Trail Run in the Manistee National Forest (near Wellston, MI). This was Alex's first half and my second. Oh boy was this one tough. Lots of hills and very warm temperatures. I tripped one time and nearly took two other spills. Well, we both finished. Alex took 2 hours and 55 minutes to complete the 13.1 mile course - good enough for 1st place in his age group. I took 2 hours and 57 minutes to finish this challenging course. (Congratulations to Troy's Donn Knight who took first place amongst men in our age group with a time of 2:07.)

Alex's 1st Place award --- an awesome beverage glass. |

We're both exhausted - but smiling. |
