Lutherans and Roman Catholics Stand Together

Regardless of the theological differences between the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) and the Roman Catholic Church, we are in agreement on many issues in the public square.

Late last month, I attended the 100th Michigan District Convention of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod as a lay delegate from Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word. In addition to elections and convention business, the Convention adopted a resolution entitled: "To Commend the Roman Catholic Church for its Stance on Religious Freedoms and Defense of the Rights of the Unborn."

In brief, here is what we adopted in Convention:
Resolved, That the Michigan District in Convention publicly express its gratitude to the Roman Catholic Church for defending religious freedoms and the rights of the unborn; and be it finally

Resolved, That the Michigan District continue to pray for and work toward the preservation of both the religious freedoms we enjoy as American citizens and the sanctity of human life as a gift of God.
