The Next Chapter and Colossians 3:16

Our son Alex will be starting his high school career tomorrow.   He has been on quite an educational adventure over the years.  He attended public school, was homeschooled for a few years and attended a Lutheran school.   In looking at all his options and Alex's best interest we've decided to return to our neighborhood high school -- Troy Athens High School

It will be a big adjustment for him coming from a class of 20 8th graders in a small Lutheran school, one hallway, no locks on the lockers, a desk you could call home and curbside service for getting to and from school.    He'll be in a school where there are 1500 or more students in the hallways, your locker has a lock on it,  there are multiple hallways as well as 2 floors and he'll finally ride a school bus.  Not sure that is a positive!

When Alex was at Our Shepherd Lutheran School he was blessed to be in a Christian environment all day long.  That will be one thing we'll miss while he is Athens High School.    Each year that Alex was at Our Shepherd a different verse of Scripture was selected to be the theme verse for the entire school.   We'll keep that going for him even though he'll be in a public school setting.

We gave Alex a number of suggestions for verses and he chose the following theme verse for his 2011/2012 school year is:

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

Colossians 3:16
