Last night, my Dad passed away. He was 2 days shy of his 90th birthday.
Mary Ellyn and I were at Our Shepherd Lutheran for Alex’s First Communion class when my brother called to say that Dad had passed away.
I know he was tired of the constant physical ailments he had to deal with and the trips between the hospital and the rehab center. He was looking forward to entering Paradise to be with Christ. (Romans 6:4... "We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.")
He is in a better place but I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to say goodbye to him and to thank him for being a great father.
Below is a photo of him from around 70 years ago. I’ll post a few more pictures over the next couple of days.
Dave, I am sorry to hear about your Dad, but always look at the good and laughable things that happened in his and your life. Think of the best part, he won't have to suffer pain, hurt anymore. He is in good hands now. Bless you for being there when he needed you, and at the time he left this world, you were needed for your son and he knew that. You gave him more hello's then good byes and that is more important. Bless your whole family.
ReplyDeleteAudre: Thank you for your kind words.
